Medieval BEASTS
Personal illustration study for a hypothetical book cover for a medieval bestiary.
Since I am dealing with medieval themes for a big project, for an exercise I decided to delve into an exploration of the fascinating world of fantastic medieval fauna.
I went through a research of the images from medieval miniatures about fantastic animals, and also cities and geographical elements. The colour palette is inspired by to the one of the images in the Relatio de innovatione ecclesie sancti geminiani, a document from the early 13th century.
I imagined illustrating the book cover for a book about this topic.
