This Mock-up Advertising Campaign for LUSH - Fresh Handmade Cosmetics was the final project of the Master in Editorial and Advertising Illustration at LABASAD Barcelona School of Art and Design, under the guidance of the course director Barbara Malagoli.

concept & process

  • going back to the first famous use of this formula in the James Bond movie 007 From Russia with love

  • they are the closest animals to earth, their existence is strictly connected to the preservation of biodiversity, and some are directly involved in the processes for the production of ingredients for cosmetics (like bees with honey)

  • this links to the use of 100% vegan ingredients, to the cruelty free policy, and represents both happy animals and happy people (the workers)

The very first sketch for the vertical poster

The characters are stylised insects, simply outlined in a fun manner but each one with their own personality and characteristics.

The tone of voice is amused, playful and cherful. The overall image wants to hit on the viewer but also tell a story.

Structure & colour

I wanted the single elements to be able to live on their own, and could be combined together in a way that looked simple and organized.

The colour palette is vibrant, bold and sweet. The chart is built on a limited number of colours, mostly not primary, very saturated.

The background is a bright pink, which contrasts with the variations of green that are on the plants and on the main character.
